It's been too long!

I stopped blogging for about a month because I obviously just got so busy! Now, I along with thousands of other Michigan State University students, are in the midst of finals week. I feel like I want to die, but I just keep telling myself...."5 more days, 4 more days..."

Nothing much has really happened in the past month though. I went home to work the Breaking Dawn Part 2 premiere at Emagine movie theatre (otherwise known as my place of employment). It was crazy and hectic all weekend. We broke our ticket record. Totally insane.

Whenever I go home, I work a lot. I've been realizing this more and more as the semester has gone on. Mostly because I miss spending time with my family. Furthermore, employees are require to work 2 out of the 4 major holiday's. These are Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve and New Year's Day. It's a hassle, but hey...I like to make money. It's a necessity.

In other news, I am completely obsessed and in love with a new YouTuber whom I discovered a few weeks ago. Her name is Nikki Phillippi. Her videos are all about fashion, hair, makeup...very girly stuff but I love it! I've gotten some really great hair and makeup ideas from her. Right now, Nikki, her husband Dan and their two ADORABLE puppies, Zoe and Bowser, are doing Vlogmas. Vlogmas is a video blog that they do every day in December. They just vlog what they did that day, who they saw and where they went. Sound kinda boring, but I really like watching them. Therefore, if you want to check out Nikki's YouTube channel, you should!!! Just type in Nikki Phillippi and all of her videos will come up.

My best friend and I celebrated her 19th birthday in November. We had quite the set up of food! Picture below...

Also, on Thanksgiving Day, my Dad and I go to see the parade in downtown Detroit and then to the Lions game. The parade was so cute and awesome. Pictures are down below. The Lions almost had the game but due to some suckish referee calls, we lost by three points :(((((

The last piece of news that I have is that this past weekend, I went home to see my high school's production of Guys and Dolls. When I was in high school, I was an actor, the head of hair and makeup, and the assistant director of all of the plays and musicals. So going back and seeing my theatre babies (my name for all of the kids still in high school) perform a show was really awesome. They sold out the last two shows which has never happened in the history of my high school. The show was really really great and I was so proud of all of my kids! Picture below.

Other than those things, I am just up to my ears in work, papers, and studying for exams. In fact, I'm going to go write a paper right now! Blog ya later!

Peace,
Christina

Lately...

So much going on lately, I've had no time to write! So what's happened in the past week.....

My parents came to visit me on Saturday. We went to lunch. It was a great time to visit.

The Halloween decorations in our hallway have been mysteriously disappearing throughout the past couple of days. I think it has something to do with the insanely obnoxious drunks that come home every night at 3am in my hall. Just a guess though...

So far, no updates on the roommate situation. Hopefully I'll still be able to move out, but things are moving very slowly.

Passed my COM 100 Midterm. YAY!!!!

On Friday night, I went to a house party for Halloween. I dressed up like a cowgirl but by the end of the night, I was just a country girl. LOL. It was fun, there was good music.

On Sunday, I cried when the Tigers lost to the Giants in the World Series. However, I am still a loyal fan. They'll get it next year. GO TIGERS!

My parents sent my cupcakes from the MSU bakery two days ago! AW. So sweet of them and they look awesome! Pictures are below!

Last night, I caught up with a girlfriend and we talked for three hours. It was good seeing her and to talk about girly stufffff.

Today, the effects of Hurricane Sandy hit MSU. It was sleeting this morning and was freezing cold all day! However, I did see pictures in New Jersey and things look really rough there. Prayers and hopes go out to all that were effected!

Anyway, that has been my life recently. So excited for Breaking Dawn 2! AHHHH!

Peace,
Christina

My Professor and TA today

So right now this semester, I am preparing to take my Communication midterm this Wednsday. My Professor, Dr. Donohue, and my Teacher Assistant, Greg, have been stressing for about 2 weeks that it is so important that we study for the midterm. So of course, I've been re-reading the chapters, making and reviewing flashcards, re-writing notes, etc....

However, yesterday I discovered that our class of over 250 students has a Facebook page. And on that page, Dr. Donohue has been posting prep-midterm question and answers. So, recently I've been checking the page every once in a while to see the answers to the questions.

THEN, today in class Dr. Donohue explained to us how we should take note of the answers on the page because they are the answers to the midterm! The ACTUAL midterm. When I heard this, I thought he was straight up kidding. Like, what professor puts answers to the midterm on a Facebook page for all of his students to see? Apparently, mine does.

After class I went up to Dr. Donohue and Greg to ask whether or not he really was kidding. And he is not! It was just the greatest gift today! Especially after I killed myself last night to finish a project that was due today but then my professor said I would have to present it Wednsday. Ah, whatever...

Tonight, I ate dinner with my across-the-hall-mates. They are so funny and such fun to be around. We get into the weirdest conversations. Tonight, a topic of conversation was milking cows and how weird it is to milk utters...haha.

At 7:30pm, I'm going to Wharton Center to see the MSU Symphony Band play their fall concert with my sister. Fun? We'll see...

So yeah, today was just a normal college student day, full of stress, busy schedule and lots of laughs. I love coming back to my room and sitting down on my couch and listening to music after a long day like this. Relaxing........

That's all to report for now! When I take exciting pictures, I'll post 'em!

Peace,
Christina

P.S. My TA has a southern accent and it is amazingly awesome! I loves it
P.P.S Still no word from Jake Chelios.... lol

Just a Sunday...with Bubble Tea

Exciting news! I have just discovered Bubble Tea today! My sister and I had lunch on Grand River this afternoon and then we went to this magical little places a few steps down Grand River called Bubble Island! Well, it's just a tea shop, however they were playing some kick-ass music (oldies of course). Anyway, bubble tea is the weirdest. I had the Strawberry Calpico (I think), with regular bubbles. I know, what is there other than regular bubbles...rainbow bubbles?

Anyway, the bubbles in the tea or chewy and slimy but really cool. Definitely an experience to have if you go to MSU. So Spartans, go there....soon.

Other than that it was a very boring but productive Sunday. I did so much schoolwork (ugh...college), studied for that midterm that I have next week in my COM 100 class, cleaned my dorm room that my roommate left nasty as hell when she left for the weekend (complete with microwaved potato and cheese sitting in a bowl that stunk up our room to high heaven), organized my half of the room.....well, it was a productive day.

So about my roommate....
Hopefully by this weekend, I'll be swapping with another girl on my floor because things have gotten wayyyyy out of hand. At first, I was totally optimistic about going into college "blind," not knowing who my roommate was going to be. However, I can say that it is something that I will NEVER do again. Now, I don't want to discourage all you out their who have the idea of "college" in your near or distant future. I think that going in blind for roommates can have great outcomes! Unfortunately, I'm living in hell and I want out.

Her name is Megan. She is from East Grand Rapids Michigan of which I am constantly reminded by her that it is the 8th nicest suburb to live in in all of the United States of freakin' America. Hey there, honey...guess what, I'm from Huntington Woods Michigan, the 10th nicest suburb to live in in all of the USofA so HA!

Ah! Little stuff like that she is constantly reminding me of. Oh, and did I metion that she has a serious and actual temper problem. One day, she was getting ready for work and she was going to be late (she is always late to everything). However this time, she could find her hat. So, as I am still sleeping in my lofted and semi-comfortable bed, she starts making so much noise and rummaging through all of her stuff you find her stinking hat. Wouldn't any normal person assume that if you could not find a part of your uniform that you would just leave, be ON TIME for work, and explain to your boss when you got their that you couldn't find it and just tie your hair up? Yeah, any normal person would. However Megan is far from normal.

So as I'm still sleeping and she is still acting as a Class 5 tornado whirling through our room leaving no survivors, she decides to CHUCK, not lightly move to the side so she can see behind, literally CHUCK her heavy-duty metal step-stool ACROSS the room. It then continued to hit my desk directly underneath me, waking me up. Once I was awake, I asked her what was wrong....no response.

In the end, she never found her hat, left the room leaving the door open and also leaving the light on. I guess at that point I was up considering the fact that I had to scale down my bed frame to close the door.

I don't want you guys to think this is the worst of it though. No why would I want you to think that? The list could go on forever with her tantrums and issues but here are just a few that I have had the pleasure to encounter...

During the first Presidential Debate of 2012, she came in the room, slammed the door, threw all of her stuff to the ground and proceeded to tell me how I should be watching the debate because "it's kinda a big deal in America right now in case you didn't know." The TV was on and I was watching it. Yeah, that's how much that situation was messed up. I left the room for the rest of the night so she could cool down and when I came back, she acted like nothing had happened.

Ummmm...she clips her toenails in our room on my futon and then throws the remnants of her nails onto our floor. I really can't describing anything nastier than stepping on toenails, let alone one's that aren't yours...

Her friend Alex is a senior in high school and is only allowed to use technology for an hour each day. So how does she use that hour? Skyping with Megan at 11 o'clock at night. Yes...that's what I would do....

She has a gigantic sack of whole potatoes in our room that she microwaves with cheese and then doesn't clean up so the room smells like hell in a 2 year old pickle jar. Not little Yukon Gold potatoes either, whole freaking potatoes (who even knows if she washes them). This, along with whole carrots and about 200 apples in our fridge. I'm all for eating healthy but.....

She wakes up in the middle of the night, waking me up as well, and not only sleep talks, but she sleep screams, sleep waves her arms around and sleep cusses people out (like she's mad at them or something). It actually gets kinda scary....to the point where I just hide under my covers for protection.

Well, I'll stop now because if I don't I'll be here all night. The point is the hopefully this coming weekend I'll be getting a new roommate thank god. I don't really feel like living in this horror movie for another semester and a half.

Anyway, nighty night! I'll see ya'll tomorrow!

Peace,
Christina

P.S. Dean Chelios and I are friends on Facebook (lol)

Well, here we...GO SPARTANS!

Hey ya'll! My name is Christina and I'm currently being acclimated into the blogging world! A little bit about myself...

I am currently attending Michigan State University and am and die-hard Spartan! So far, my experience here has been really great, apart from some minor roommate issues. However, classes and sporting event here keep me busy and on top of my game. I've gone to a few football games but unfortunately, the Spartans of football have been having a rough year. The good news is that I am recently and die-hard Spartan Hockey fan as well and am I proud and loud member of the A-TEAM!!! Just ask anyone who sits around me during the games. Spartan Hockey is doing great so far this year and they've won the past two games that I've gone to, both were exciting and nerve-wracking! Anywayyyy...

That's my funtastic social life here at MSU. As for my academic life, I am an Elementary Education major specializing in Language Arts in the Global Cohort. What this long mouthful means is that hopefully some day after college, I will be able to go out of the USA to teach in third-world countries! Well, that's the big dream anyway. I love my classes and the professors.

So the reason I decided to start of blog is not because I want billions of people to read it, become an overnight sensation and never have anything else to worry about. Oh no no no. I just think it's a good way to rewind after a long and sometimes agonizing day of being a college student. Truth is, some days are agonizing but some are not. For instance, today I woke up at 1:30pm, lazed around and then only took a shower, did my makeup and got dressed so that I could go and see the Spartans win their hockey game tonight. Btw, Dean Chelios, if you are out there, my sister loves ya. And Jake, I will admit to being a fan. Spartans and Red Wings man, there is nothing better. Especially when our football team loses to U of M....................

Well, I think this has gone better than expected for a first blog. In case you want to or are planning on coming back to read more, I hope to write about my day on a regular basis. Sports, funny things that happen in my classes (oh they happen all right), my home life, etc... Oh and in case you were wondering why my blog is named Christina and Country, I love me some down south! Almost went to University of Alabama for that matter (maybe I should have just for the football haha). Blake Shelton is my man! I love country music and the country atmosphere. But Michigan is a great place too don't get me wrong :)

Have any suggestions on what I write about next? Let me know. I could probably use them Lol.

Peace!
Christina

P.S. I also love me some Detroit Tigers Baseball! Verlander is also my man! World Series babyyyy! Bring it on...
